The 15 Habits of Highly Defective Public Schooling

The 15 Habits of Highly Defective Public Schooling

This is reprinted from one of Mary Pride’s books on homeschooling, but I wholeheartedly agree.

  1. Drugs
  2. Violence
  3. Gangs
  4. Morally and theologically questionable curriculum
  5. Peer pressure
  6. An alarming number of teachers who can’t pass basic competency tests
  7. Censorship of traditional religion
  8. Plummeting test scores
  9. Dumbed down curriculum
  10. Age segregation (the notion that people learn best in the company of dozens of people exactly their own age)
  11. Isolation from community life
  12. Busywork
  13. Little to no one-to-one interaction with the teacher
  14. Lockstep learning (your child has to learn at the same speed as everyone else)
  15. Lack of opportunities to pursue special projects and interests
